Sherman Carter, Jr. of Fort Worth passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 25, 1951 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas, to the parentage of Sherman Carter, Sr. and Hazel Ross.
Sherman graduated from G. W. Jackson High School. After graduating high school he married Doris Jeanette McDonald. To this union one daughter, Lisa Mornay Carter was born.
Sherman later joined the Army in 1973 and received a national defense service metal as an expert M16 sharp shooter. He was honorably discharged in 1979.
Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, step-daughter Audra Carter-Green, brother Hershel Carter, Aunt Bertha Hutchings and Great Aunt Flossie.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter Lisa Carter-Smith (Windell); step-son Corey Carter (Kelli); their mother Doris Jeanette Carroll (Marvin); three grandchildren Lessie Ellison IV, Jade Ellison and Jasmine Ellison; three great-grandchildren Kamarian, Nova, and Da'Mone. He is also survived by close friend Cecil and life-long friend Wycoff McAdams.
Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at Scott Funeral Home Chapel.
