Sandra Dudley Kerley was born on September 11, 1948 to Albert and Francis Dudley. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1966, where her dad coached football. The Dudley family loved to spend the summer months at Gold Lake Ranch, Colorado, and it is where she met the love of her life, Joe. She wasn't particularly fond of him at first because he was best friends with one of her cousins. However, when she was forced to take trips into town with him to gather camp supplies, she realized just how much their souls connected. She married Joe Wesley Kerley on June 22, 1968 after five years of dating. Sandi graduated from East Texas University with a bachelor's degree in education and master's degree in early childhood education. She then went on to spend her career teaching in Richardson, TX for over thirty years. Sandi spent many years at Northlake Elementary, where she allowed her sons to rollerblade down the hallways during their summers off.
Sandi lived in Dallas for over fifty years, where she served the Lord with love at Northlake Baptist Church. She sang His praises with the church choir and was often a soloist on major holidays, with or without instrumental accompaniment. She once said, "The lord blessed me with a special voice for him" and she used it well. Sandi had a special love for American history, with a particular interest in Native American Culture. She would plan summer Grammie trips for her grandchildren, where they could learn and explore such things. She would select books regarding the regions and historical sights upon which they were visiting. Ashley and James would read to her to keep her awake and alert on the road. If there was an option to pitch a tent, that was always the clear winner over any local motel.
Sandi was blessed with and survived by two sons, James Wesley Kerley and Jeffery Lee Kerley. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Ashley Marie Kerley and James Frederick Kerley, and one great grandson, Nash Wesley Kerley. She was loved by all who met her and she will be greatly missed. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Paschal Funeral Home 120 SW Third St. Kerens, Texas 75144. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Jimmy Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in the Kerens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations in Sandi's memory to Northlake Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
