Corsicana - Richard Clement Parker ofCorsicana and Dallas, Texas, bornJanuary 1, 1931, passed away atage 94 on December 13, 2025.A man of vision, Richard wasa pioneer in the communicationsindustry and an accomplishedentrepreneur in other businessventures throughout his life. Heowned KAND, a radio station inCorsicana, Texas, from 1966 to1995 and co-owned 8 other stationsin Louisiana and Missouriover the ensuing years. In 1972,Richard and a partner developedCCTV-one of the earlier cabletelevision systems in Texas. Inlater years, he was active in commercialand residential real estatedevelopment as well as the oil industry.Despite the demands ofhis career, Richard always madetime for giving back to his communityby serving as a volunteerand on the boards of variousprofessional and philanthropicorganizations, including the TexasAssociation of Broadcasters,the Masonic Lodge, Boy Scouts,Chamber of Commerce, YMCA,Salvation Army, Red Cross, theWarehouse Living Arts Center,and more.Richard?s vision was not onlydirected to the future; he held adeep appreciation of history, bothpersonal and global. His globalinterests were piqued as a U.S.Navy sailor in the early 1950s, andhis dreams of travel were fulfilledwith his wife, Hester. Throughouttheir forty-five year marriage,they enjoyed travels across theUnited States and Mexico as wellas Caribbean cruises and visits tothe Far East and Europe.His appreciation of his ancestryled to his insatiable curiosityregarding the history of hisfamily and his determination topreserve it. In 2010, Richard publisheda book titled A Sailor?s Lifein Letters, sharing his experiencesas a sailor during the Korean Waryears through letters exchangedwith his mother and other familymembers. Over the next decade,he published Richard DennyParker, A Personal & FamilyHistory-his father?s life story, andDr. Daniel Parker III: A Portraitof Courage and Compassion- acomprehensive study of the lifeof his grandfather, a doctor whoserved as an assistant surgeon forthe Confederate Army throughoutthe Civil War and later becamea Texas rancher and legislator.Summarizing his own life atage 80, Richard wrote, ?All in all,I?ve been lucky. Life has been, andstill is, great for this Texas boy.?Beloved husband of HesterWoodfin Parker and fatherof William K. Parker, Richardwas predeceased by his parents,Richard Denny Parker and NonaClement Parker, sister Lila AnneParker, brothers David Connel Parker, Jacques Adoue Parker and William Lucien Parker, and daughter Kathryn Parker.
