Corsicana - On the afternoon of Friday, June 6th, 2025, Rickey passed away peacefully where he was surrounded by loved ones. He was seventy-one years old. Rickey was born in the town of Corsicana, Texas on October 4th, 1953. He was the first child of the late Margaret and Dewey Hickson.

Rickey was a graduate of Corsicana High School in 1972 and later attended Texas A&M University. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology and he went on to further his academics with a medical technology certificate from Navarro College. He then worked for Medical Arts Clinic for twenty-five years and later retired.

As a child, Rickey had many friends where they enjoyed gathering for a game at Beebe field, which he let his little sister attend. He loved playing football in the street where traffic wasn't an issue in those days. As an adult, Rickey enjoyed golf with his buddies where he never liked to keep score and just liked to play. For some strange reason, he adopted most of the cats in his neighborhood. Whether they stayed or left, he loved them all. He was a tender hearted guy who loved to make people laugh and smile. Always the jokester that could light up a room.

Rickey is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Debbie Ranson of Corsicana, nephews Blake Funderburk of Corsicana, Kevin Funderburk of Austin, nieces Amy Tidwell and her husband Aaron of Corsicana, Meg Funderburk and her fiance Sarah Pyatt of Liberty Hill, great nephews and nieces Kane Funderburk, Carson Funderburk, Kalan Funderburk, Kennedi Tidwell, Kase Tidwell, as well as a host of cousins and dear friends.

A visitation service will be held on June 11th from 6-8:00 p.m. at Griffin Roughton funeral home. The funeral service celebrating Rickey's life will be held on June 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana with Charky Marquis officiating and a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery following.

Pallbearers for the service will be Ricky Rogers, Mike Dowd, Jay Sewell, Clif Tramel, Blake Funderburk, Kevin Funderburk
