Peggy Jordan Obituary
San Angelo, TX - Our beloved, kind, and generous mother Peggy Lou Berry Jordan, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026. She was born at home on September 26, 1931 in Dawson, Texas to Jim and Marguerite Berry. The family tree shows the lineage to George Washington.
Peggy started school at the age of 4 because her mother was a teacher and her father was at work. Going to school was the only option. She graduated from Corsicana High School at the age of 16. Peggy later graduated from Navarro Jr. College.
Peggy met Wesley Jordan in Corsicana through his sister, Betty. They were married four years later on June 1, 1951. They were married for 64 years until his passing in February 2020. After the Korean War, they moved to Lubbock so Wesley could attend Texas Tech while Peggy worked for Bell Telephone.
The couple later moved to San Angelo and Peggy attended and graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Science Early Childhood Degree. She wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps to be a teacher. Peggy taught at Christoval Headstart, Austin, and Fannin Elementary. She retired in 1996.
Peggy was very courageous and brave. She was always the first one to try new things like water skiing or tubing. If she survived, then it was okay for her children to do it!
Peggy loved adventured and enjoyed traveling. Her first travel companion was her mother, Marguerite, then when Wesley retired they were able to travel together. The two went on a few cruises and bus tours. They traveled to Alaska, panned for gold in Colorado, and white water rafted in New Medico with their grandson. The couple also visited Alaska, Arizona, The Grand Canyon, Idaho, Utah, Yellowstone National Park, Kansas, Branson, Missouri, Arkansas, New Orleans, New York, Niagara Falls, Illinois, Washington D.C., Canada, Scotland, The Great Wall of China, Japan, Normandy, Ireland, England, Germany, France, Switzerland, Hawaii, Jamaica, and Australia just to name a few.
Peggy was always busy being a member of Retired Teachers of the Concho Valley, Newtimers, Dinner Club, and Dance Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church, often volunteering in the nursery or answering the prayer list phone calls. She wanted her children to learn about God. Peggy would always find a Baptist church to attend on their summer vacations.
Peggy is survived by her children Berry Jordan (Nancy), Tracy Clarke (Tom) of San Angelo, and Kelly Jordan (Lori) of Flower Mound; two grandsons, Jack Clarke of San Angelo and Terry Clarke of Bee Cave; two sisters-in-law, Wretha and Belinda Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Janice (Don) Palmer of Corsicana; many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
