Corsicana, Wyoming - Maurine Scoggins Rhodes, age 96, passed away on January 25th, 2025, at her home in Corsicana, Texas. She was born in Corsicana on October 30th, 1928. She attended Corsicana High School where she was a member of the Pep Squad and a good student. She graduated in 1945 and married Charlie Junior Rhodes in 1947.

Maurine and Charlie moved to Lubbock where Maurine worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone company while Charlie attended Texas Tech University. They had a daughter Jerri Lynne while living there. After Charlie graduated from Texas Tech they moved to Dallas where they spent most of their married life.

Maurine worked as an executive secretary for Braniff International Airlines and was able to travel all over the world. She visited many exotic locations and had lots of stories of adventure and fun, including a trip around the world. She retired with Dalfort Aviation Corporation, a division of Braniff International. Maurine and Charlie moved back to Corsicana after retiring to be closer to family and friends.

Maurine was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church in Corsicana and enjoyed being a part of the church family, where she loved playing cards and traveling with friends and family to many places.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charlie J. Rhodes, and her daughter, Jerri Lynne Daniel. She is also preceded by her parents, Henry and Eunice Scoggins; her brothers, Henry W. and James M. Scoggins; and her sisters, Inez Scoggins Hammonds, Marie Scoggins Dionisi and Leda Faye Scoggins Watson.

She is survived by her foster daughter, Belinda Glaser, foster granddaughter, Crystal Maria Glaser, her foster great-grandson, Carter Ray Hilger, and several nieces, nephews and extended family who will cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, at the funeral home with Reverend Daniel Harper of Northside Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Corsicana.
