Corsicana - Marilyn June Vitters, age 81, of Corsicana, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2026, after a life marked by love, humor, faith and devotion to her family. She was born on June 2, 1945, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Herman and Lila DeVries. Marilyn carried herself with a warmth and grace that made everyone feel welcome in her presence.

Marilyn lived a life centered on family. She was the heart and soul of her family. She was a believer whose values were reflected in the way she cared for others, treated people with respect, and offered kindness freely. She was full of humor and quick wit, and she had a way of bringing lightness to any room. Her family and friends will remember her as funny, friendly, and courageous, with a strong patience and a selfless spirit that touched many lives.

Marilyn was married to her beloved husband, Al Vitters, for 61 years. Their marriage was a lasting example of commitment, partnership, and devotion. She is survived by her son, Mark Vitters; her daughter, Tracy Lyle and her husband Adam; her son, Brad Vitters; her granddaughters, Addison and Tatum Lyle; her grandson, Alan Vitters and his wife Kendle; her grandchildren, Olivia and Dean Vitters; and her great-grandchildren, Georgia, Micah, and Josie Vitters. She also leaves behind her sisters, Bonnie Raabe and Barb Oaks, and her brother, Mike DeVries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lila DeVries, and her sisters, Pat and Shirley.

Marilyn had interests that reflected her gentle and joyful nature. She loved to travel, dance, read romance novels, enjoying a nice restaurant with family, and being a good cook. Her famous baked beans, scalloped potatoes, deviled eggs, tacos, breadcrumb turkey stuffing and gravy became favorites at family gatherings and will be remembered with affection by all who were fortunate enough to enjoy them. She enjoyed quiet mornings in the dining room with her coffee while looking out over the pond. She found happiness in caring for others and in creating a home where love was always present. Her family meant more to her than anything, and she showed that love in countless thoughtful ways throughout her life.

Those who knew Marilyn will remember her as someone who was full of humor, kindness, and strength. She was strong beyond measure. She had a welcoming heart and a gift for making others feel comfortable and valued. She treated everyone with respect and carried herself with a quiet dignity that left a lasting impression.
