Jannette Louise Wasson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, after she was able to say her goodbyes to family the day before. She was 87.
Jann was born on March 16,1936 in Lone Oak, Texas. Her parents were Dr. Guy B. and Ona Fain. She attended Dallas Sunset High School, where she was a member of the Sunset Bisonnette Drill Team and graduated in 1954. After graduating, Jann went to work at First National Bank in Dallas. While working at the bank, she enjoyed playing on the basketball team. While playing one night, she met Homer Gene, who was a referee. He called a foul on her and after the game he somehow got her phone number.
Jann and Homer Gene were married in 1955 and were blessed with 3 children. Jann worked as a bank teller until retirement.
Jann was a devout Christian, devoted wife, and an extremely loving mother and Mee Ma. She loved to cook, iron, clean house, and watch her kids and grandkids participate in sports, dance, drill team, choir
and theater. Whatever they did made her happy and she worked hard to be the first one in the stands, ready to cheer. She loved God, family and friends. She enjoyed her coffee and conversations with good
friends, preparing big meals, hosting all the nieces and nephews for Prairie Point Cemetery weekend, hosting showers and teaching Sunday School at Kerens Church of Christ.
Jann was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Homer Gene Wasson; parents Guy and Ona Fain; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Homer and Alta Wasson; brother Burton Fain and wife Francis; brother-in-law Billy Kidd; sister-in-law Marilyn Stubbs and husband Clayton; and granddaughter Chasidie Ann Wasson.
She leaves behind a loving family; son Hal Wasson and wife Sallie; daughter Sonda Baker and husband Henry; son Tim Wasson; grandchildren Blake Baker and wife Brandy; Hailey Brooks and husband C.T.; Chase Wasson and wife Shay; Chelsie Thomas and husband Jon; Hunter Wasson; and Hogan Wasson. Great-grandchildren Tripp and Emery Baker; Tristin and Brison Brooks; Weston Rich; Cal, Cash (& soon to be Cora) Wasson; Twin Sister Annette Kidd; Brother-in-law Jerry Wasson and wife Donna. She will be greatly missed by all. Just can't replace the absence of our "Mother". In her last few days ofsuffering, she had Jesus, she had Joy!
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am at Kerens Church of Christ, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 am on Friday, April 7, 2023. Jimmy Glenn will officiate. Interment to follow in the Prairie Point Cemetery. Pallbearers are Blake Baker, Chase Wasson, Hunter Wasson, Hogan Wasson, C.T. Brooks, Jon Thomas and Tripp Baker.
