James David DeMoss Obituary

James David DeMoss, 72, of Kerens, TX, received his Heavenly wings on Sunday, February 6, 2022. He is survived by his daughter, Audra Gorden and ex son-in-law, Tim Gorden, Holly Hooser and husband, Charles Hooser, Sisters: Amy Sotelo and husband Rene Sotelo, Kim Medrano and husband Gilbert Medrano, Cindy Young, Lisa Gilmore, Darla Turner, and Lisa DeMoss; Grandchildren: Jody Gorden, DJ Woods, Dylan Woods and wife, Chelsie, Logan Gorden, Maura Gorden, Dawson Woods, and Brody Hooser as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia DeMoss, his mother, Geraldine O'Shay, and his wife, Mary Latricia DeMoss.

James was a family man. He worked hard his entire life to ensure that his family was well provided for. James was a proud Army veteran. He enjoyed talking about all the times that he jumped from airplanes during his service, and never failed to mention how nervous it made his mother and wife. He started his career in the glass business where he worked in management for Chatanooga Glass. He loved to talk about the time he spent in Laguna Beach, California, where the company sent him for additional training, and how he missed out on a chance to sit across from John Wayne at a charity dinner he had been invited to because he missed his wife and daughters and so decided not to delay his trip back home. After retiring from Chatanooga, James opened his own muffler shop on 7th avenue in Corsicana. He prided himself in the honesty and integrity that he provided for his customers throughout the years at J & J Muffler. His grandchildren called him Pops J&J. James loved his daughters and grandchildren so much. He enjoyed working on his farm in Bazette, where he and his wife built their family home. He loved to fish, hunt, take trips to "the boat" in Shreveport, watch his grandkids play sports, tell jokes, and he had a special knack for mechanics.

Mr. DeMoss spent the last several months of his life after his wife passed away at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Rene Sotelo, along with his nieces, Alyssa and Taya, and his precious fur baby, Baby Girl. In his final months, James was able to check off his entire "bucket list", which included a trip back to the boats, adding to his coin collection, going on a hunting trip with his sister, having a good steak, and ordering room service!

We would like to especially thank his wonderful nurse, Alicia, with New Century Hospice for the extra time and care she so graciously gave to him, Thank you. James was loved beyond measure and will be remembered by his loved ones always.
