Corsicana, Texas - Jackie Lee Thomas was born in Purdon, Texas, on September 2, 1933, and attended school there throughout his childhood. After graduating, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the Army, where he was part of the communications division. When his service ended, he built a career at Southwestern Bell, dedicating years of hard work until his retirement. But retirement didn't mean slowing down for Jackie. Instead, he turned to a life that had always been close to his heart—farming. His land and his cows meant the world to him, and he poured his time, energy, and love into it. He was not only a hardworking man but also a great businessman who never met a stranger and knew the value of perseverance and dedication.
In 1960, Jackie married the love of his life, Lurene Thomas. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family and his only son Lee, granddaughter Jenna and great grandsons Parker and Nixon. Lurene was his partner in everything, standing beside him through all of life's ups and downs. Their marriage was a testament to loyalty, and love with God at the center at all times.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Elbert Thomas and Bytha Tipton Thomas, as well as his siblings Lura Mae Wilson and husband Audie , Billy Thomas, and CE and wife Mildred Thomas. He is now reunited with them and also his nephew Ricky, in the presence of the God he loved so deeply.
He is survived by his wife Lurene, son Lee Thomas and partner Tara, granddaughter Jenna Denbow and husband Hunter, his two great grandsons Parker and Nixon Denbow. Nephew Kipp Thomas, Genetha Thomas and children Freddy Thomas & Emily Carroll. Brother Ronnie and wife Garlene Thomas and their three daughters Elice, Sandi, and Tammi. And niece Linda Addington
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Jackie's legacy lives on. He showed us the importance of kindness, hard work, and cherishing the people we hold dear. While we will miss him greatly, his spirit remains in the stories we share, the lessons he taught us, and the love he left behind.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been there for Jackie during his last few years. Your kindness and support meant the world to him and to all of us. Rest easy, Jackie. Your work here is done, but your legacy will never fade.
Pallbearers will be Ken Douglas, Kenneth Brooks, Kipp Thomas, Derrick Minor, Hunter Denbow and Donald Davis. Nieces and nephews will serve at honorary pallbearers.
