Mr. Hubert Lanier "H.L." Massey went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 in Lubbock. He was born May 10, 1921 to John and Laura Massey of Streetman.. During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps. He later enjoyed a successful career in sales. He married Margie Hill on Aug. 31, 1987 in Lubbock. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Lubbock. During his retirement, he volunteered for the Veterans Administration, transporting veterans to facilities for treatment. He was also a member of D.A.V., American Legion, and the Odd Fellows.. Mr. Massey's greatest joy was visiting with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his good nature and generous spirit.. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Robinson.. He is survived by his wife Margie; stepdaughter, Faye Lieder; grandchildren, Kim Abramson and Billy Lieder, all of New Orleans, La.; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mable Anderson of Canyon, Texas and Freddie Finley of Corsicana; brothers, Roy Massey of Corpus Christi, Johnny B. Massey of Wortham, Harold Massey of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews.. Viewing will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Corley Lakeside Chapel at 123 Main St., Streetman. Visitation with the family will be 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at Corley Lakeside Chapel followed by Graveside Services at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elmo Cemetery, St. Elmo, Texas..
