Corsicana - Services for George Ann O'Bannon, 76, of Tyler, were held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Downtown Tyler, with Rev. Pike Wisner officiating. Burial followed at 1:30 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. O'Bannon passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in Tyler. She was born February 24, 1949, in Corsicana to George and Kay Reames Watkins.

George Ann was a proud graduate of Corsicana High School, Class of 1967. She went on to attend Baylor University, where she earned her degree in just three years. She began her career as an English teacher and drill team sponsor at Corsicana High School. Over the next four decades, she dedicated herself to education — first as a teacher and then receiving her master's as a school counselor, serving students in several school districts, with the majority of her career spent as a beloved counselor at Whitehouse High School.

In addition to her lifelong work in education, George Ann was also a trailblazer in the world of sports officiating. She umpired little league, high school, and college baseball for more than 30 years — many of those alongside her husband. She was proud to be the first female umpire in her area, and her love for the game was matched only by her commitment to fairness and mentorship on the field.

George Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jim O'Bannon; her children, Meredith Dosser, Andrew Dosser and Ashley Oravetz; her grandkids, Grayson Dosser, Braeden O'Bannon, and Grace O'Bannon; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her strength, spirit, and devotion to others.
