Floyd  Rucks
Floyd Desmond Rucks, Sr. age 78, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at Legacy West Nursing Home in Corsicana.
Floyd Sr. was born on Jan. 14, 1941, in Argo, Texas which is a small town just North East of Mount Pleasant, to parents Johnnie Floyd Rucks and Syble Pannell Rucks.
Floyd Sr. lost his father at the age of 10 and years after the family moved to the Killeen area, Syble married Von E. Ratcliff.
Floyd Sr. attended Belton Junior High School, Copperas Cove High School and graduated from Killeen High School where he met the love of his life Barbara Gene Bay.
Floyd Sr. served in the United States Army for two years, married Barbara, and then served in the United States Air Force for four years. During that time they gave birth to Vickie Lynn Rucks on May 16, 1964, in Clovis, New Mexico. After Floyd Sr.'s time in the military was over they moved back to the Killeen area and gave birth to their second child, Floyd Desmond Rucks Jr. on Jan. 20, 1972 in Temple, Texas.
In 1974 the family moved to Reno, Nevada where Floyd Sr. was hired by Kmart Distribution Center and then later transferred with Kmart to Corsicana, Texas in 1982. Floyd Sr. retired from Kmart Distribution after 35 years of service and the Corsicana facility was closed. With his time at Kmart, he held various management positions and was a very devoted employee to his company and peers. His passion for life was his family, friends, his Kmart work family, his dog Shiney, country music, baseball, western movies, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Floyd Sr. lost his loving wife of 53 years on Jan. 9, 2017, and resided in their home until his health conditions motivated him to move to Heritage Oaks West/Legacy West.
Floyd Sr. is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Bay Rucks, parents Johnnie Floyd Rucks, Syble Pannell Ratcliff and step-father Von E. Ratcliff.
Floyd is survived by his daughter, Vickie Farmer of Corsicana, his son, Floyd Rucks Jr. and wife Danielle of Tyler, Texas; his grandchildren, Lee and Lauren Farmer of Killeen, Texas, Lance Farmer of Corsicana, Texas, Lauren Rucks of Corsicana, Texas, Ronnie and Kellie Perry of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Noah Rucks of Corsicana, Texas, four great-grandchildren, and a fifth great-grandchild on the way, and lots of friends who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana, Texas with Dr. Steven Bell officiating. A private burial will follow at DFW National Cemetery in Arlington.
