Elton Aaron Raney Obituary

Elton Aaron Raney of Bullard, Texas, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 22, 2025, at the age of 57.

Elton was born to Joy Patterson and Grover Raney on May 15th, 1967, in Beaumont, Texas.

Elton was a servant of the Lord, honoring Him until his death. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and brother to all.

His passion for the Gospel shone brightly through his involvement in the Southern Joy Quartet, a beloved avenue for sharing his faith. Elton also served with distinction in the Corsicana Umpires Association of Texas for nearly 20 years. He worked at AT&T for 32 years, serving as a union steward for a significant portion of that time.

His battle with cancer became a testament to his unwavering perseverance. Rather than surrender, he met the challenge with extraordinary resolve, becoming an ordained minister, continuing to umpire baseball, bowling every chance he could get, and even learning woodworking. Elton lived a life emulating the values of generosity and unwavering commitment to the Lord. He lived by the principle of serving the Lord with all his heart, soul, and strength and taught his family to do the same.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Linda; daughter Tiffany Anderson and her husband, Spencer; son Aaron Raney and his wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren Norah, Luke, Jordan, and Sadie; and brothers Walter, Steven, Robert, Shelby, and Henry. He is also survived by sisters Joy, Audrey, Frankie, Lena, Joyce Marie, Charlotte, Peggy, Marilyn, and Carolyn, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Grover Raney, his mother, Joy Patterson, and his stepfather, L.D. Patterson; brothers Grover, Kenneth, and Ronnie Raney; sisters Rose Ann Raney and Beth Ginn.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27,2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at New Life Worship Center, 18535 US-69 South, Tyler, TX, on Saturday, March 1st, at 11 a.m.
