Corsicana, Texas - Funeral services for Mrs. Elaine Withrow Hand, 72, will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 1:00p.m. at First Baptist Church in Corsicana, Texas. FBC Pastor Danny Reeves will be officiating. Interment services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Whit Tanner, Todd Allison, Matt Allison, Doug Anderson, Andy Morris and Mike Terry. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Lucas, Scott Powers, Jim Mullins, Phil Judson and TJ Wommack.

The Lord called her home on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Brookdale in Corsicana, Texas with friends and family by her side.

She was born in Teague, Texas on December 20, 1950 to William (Bill) and Naomi Withrow. She graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1969 and attended Navarro College where she met the love of her life, Bennie Roy Hand. After Navarro, she completed her Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology and Speech Communications from Baylor University. In 2006, she earned a Masters of Arts in Professional Development from Amberton University.

On June 3, 1972, Elaine married the love of her life, Bennie Roy Hand. They shared 51 years of marriage and were blessed with two children and five grandchildren.

During her life in Corsicana, she served her community in various ways to include involvement in First Baptist Church, Navarro Council of the Arts, Thalian Club, Community Bible Study, and many community theater productions. She served as an educator for many years in Corsicana ISD, teaching Speech Communications, Debate, and Theater Arts. She spent countless evenings and weekends directing rehearsals and performances both locally and throughout the State of Texas. Additionally, she traveled with students for debate tournaments and UIL events. She enjoyed teaching and loved pouring herself into her students. After retiring from CISD, she began teaching at Navarro College as an Associate Professor of Speech Communications. Teaching at the college level was a long time goal achieved. She thoroughly enjoyed higher level academia, preparing and educating students in a different ways and loved her colleagues that served alongside her.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Corsicana, Texas for 45 years. She always loved music and sang in the FBC Church choir, FBC "Adoration" and the long-time running FBC "Living Christmas Tree."

Mrs. Hand is survived by her husband Bennie Hand of Corsicana, Texas, her children David Hand & wife Becca of Katy, Texas, daughter Lauren Null and husband Jason of Gallup, New Mexico, 5 granddaughters, Caroline Hand, Claire Hand, Holland Null, Olivia Null and Amelia Null, and sister-in-law Pam Rhodes and so many beloved great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hand is preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) Walter Withrow, Jr., her mother Naomi Withrow, her sister Linda Allison, brother-in-law Garry Rhodes, and bother-in-law Jerry Morris. She loved her Savior, family and friends faithfully to her last day in this world.
