Dorothy Linell Minatra Ganze left her earthly home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2024. She was born on June 17, 1930, to Odie James Minatra and Effie Elnor Anderson Minatra in Rural Shade. Dorothy attended grade school in Rural Shade and Mildred before going to high school in Dawson.
She married Daniel Calvin "Cab" Ganze on November 1, 1947. They made their home in the Pursley Community, where they raised their family of four: Dianne, Brenda, Randy, and Sherry. Dorothy attended nursing school and worked at the Navarro Clinic, the hospital, and eventually at the Medical Arts Clinic as Dr. Charles Biltz's nurse until her retirement in 1994.
Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl in Rural Shade. She was a long-time member of Pursley Missionary Baptist Church, devoting her time and service as a Sunday school teacher and a VBS volunteer.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Calvin Ganze, her sister Margaret Green Butler, her brothers Billy Minatra and James Minatra, her son Randy Ganze and his wife Susie Ganze, and sons-in-law Bonner French and Raymond Summers.
She is survived by her daughters Dianne Summers, Brenda Parrish and husband Charles, and Sherry Kelley; her sister-in-law Mary Minatra Robinson; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Meme to her grandchildren: Kristie Melton and husband Keith, Melanie Dotson, Jennifer Parrish, Daniel Kelley and wife Rhonda, Jeffery Ganze and wife Britni, Bryan Kelley and wife Katie, Kyle Parrish and wife Meagan, Dustin Ganze and wife Ashlea, and Mark Kelley and wife Lauren. Her great-grandchildren include Hunter Melton and wife Katie, Lane Dotson, Logan Gayle and husband Gentry, Luke Dotson and fiancée Caitlin Prince, Bryce Kelley, Daxton Ganze, Leighton Kelley, Ryder Kelley, Avery Ganze, Riley Ganze, and Saige Kelley. She also leaves behind great-great-grandchildren Hayes Melton, Karter Melton, Kimber Gayle, and Kamden Melton, along with many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Dorothy was incredibly proud of her family and treasured the moments when five generations could gather together in one place over the past few years before her passing.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons & great grandsons, Daniel Kelley, Jeffrey Ganze, Bryan Kelley, Kyle Parrish, Dustin Ganze and Mark Kelley. Honorary Pallbearers Keith Melton, Hunter Melton, Lane Dotson, Luke Dotson, Bryce Kelley, Daxton Ganze, Ryder Kelley and Gentry Gayle.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24th from 5:30 - 7:30pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am Thursday, July 25th at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chet Brake and Bro. William Dollar officiating.
