David L. 'Uncle Curly' Jackson Obituary

David L. "Uncle Curly" Jackson Jr., was born on February 13, 1923, in Dallas, and he passed away April 3, 2010, at his home in Blooming Grove.. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Janet L. Brewer Jackson.. He is survived by his son, David H. Jackson and wife Glenna Beth, of Pasadena; and by his son, Boyd L. Jackson and wife Robin of Corsicana. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Mary Louise Sobotic of Houston; by three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.. David L. Jackson Jr. was placed in Boles Orphan Home at age 8 with three brothers. He met his future wife there and both graduated from Boles High School and moved to Houston. They moved to Pasadena in 1961. He was a member of the Church of Christ all his life. He served in the military in World War II with the 82nd Airborne Division in France and Belgium and received the Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired after 37 years with Crown Central Petroleum Corporation as an operations supervisor.. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.. Services will be held Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston. Service time is pending..
