Corsicana - Charmer Elayne Porter Robinson, 83, of Pelham, Texas passed away on Friday, December 23, 2023, at her home in Pelham. She was born on June 25, 1940, in Pelham, Texas. She graduated from Pelham High School in Pelham (Navarro County) Texas. She went on to receive her undergraduate college degree in Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science at Huston-Tillotson (College) University (1962) and a Master's degree in Education from Prairie View A & M University.

Her professional employment began as a teacher in Coolidge, Texas. She became a physical science and biology teacher, serving in the Dallas Independent School District for over 30 years at Sarah Zumwalt Junior High (now Frederick Douglass Todd Sr. Middle School) and Bryan Adams High School.

Elayne was a member of many organizations over her lifetime, however the ones she most mentioned were her churches; Wesley United Methodist Church (childhood, Pelham, Texas), St. Andrews Episcopal (Tuskegee Institute, Alabama), Epiphany Episcopal (Dallas) and St. Luke Presbyterian (USA) Dallas, Texas; her Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. (1958), The Huston-Tillotson (College) University International Alumni Association, and the Navarro County Retired Teachers Association.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Burtis B. Robinson; her father, Elmer Porter; her mother, Jimmie Porter; her sister, Cecilia (Porter) Heiskell; her Sister, Darlene (Porter) Holloway (Michael); her brother-in-law, Freeman Robinson, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Spears Brooks(); her sister-in-law, Louise DeVaughn (Canary); and her brother-in-law, Curtis Robinson (Jesse).

She is survived by her daughter, Charlayne "Tina" Baker; son, Burtis "Brad" Robinson (Felicia); sister-in-laws, Georgia Nell Robinson Thomas; Lizzie Ann Robinson Porter (Waco, Jr.); brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Jean Porter; grandchildren, Andre' Lourice Baker Jr., Constance Elayne Robinson, Jonathan Bradwyck Robinson, Jordan Scott Robinson, and Joshua Freeman Robinson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church with Rev. Clay Allard officiating.

Interment will follow at P3 Porter Ranch Family Cemetery in Pelham, Texas. Pallbearers will include nephews.
