Bubba Blissett, 97, of Kerens Texas died peacefully at the Twilight Home on January 31, 2024.

He was born on December 27, 1926 in Kerens, Texas to the late Charles and Ruby Blissett. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janis who passed away on November 10, 2022. Also, an infant son, Mitchell Dean, and a brother, James Blissett. He is survived by his daughter, Terri Powell and husband, Mark, of Cedar Hill, and his son, Kurt Blissett and wife Roxanne, of Plano. Also, two grandsons, Zach Powell and wife Kelly of Desoto, and Cody Powell and wife Tabitha of Corsicana, three great granddaughters, Rachel Powell of Cedar Hill, and Jordan and Chloe Powell of Corsicana.

Bubba graduated from high school in Kerens in May 1944. He was Valedictorian of his class. He joined the Navy just three days after graduation at the age of 17. His mother had to sign for him to enlist. After being discharged on June 3, 1946, he became a member of the Barrack Bunch at Navarro College and played football. He also attended East Texas State Teacher College and North Texas University.

He made a career in banking in Kerens and served as a director for 26 years. Bubba coached Little League and Pony League baseball for 21 years. He was on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and served as trustee of First Baptist Church.

Bubba loved to hunt and fish and belonged to the Kerens Deer Hunters for over 20 years.
