Brenda Stubbs Obituary

Corsicana, Texas - Brenda Stubbs

Honoring the Love Brenda Lee Grounds Stubbs Gave So Freely

A bright light has left this world to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Brenda Lee Grounds Stubbs was born to Harry Lee and Florene Grounds on April 10, 1951 in Corsicana, Texas. She joined the heavenly hostesses on September 6, 2025 at the age of 74 after a long battle with respiratory issues. She was a loving force in her family and in her community. Brenda showered everyone she met with genuine curiosity and enveloped everyone she knew with love.

Brenda was the heart of the family. Her warmth and grace provided a comfortable place for each person to feel seen, heard, and loved. She shared a remarkable love with James Stubbs that included long, winding road trips either during the fall months each year or just day trips to wherever the day took them. Brenda and James had one son, Jason David, "JD." Brenda loved him fiercely and cherished every single moment with him including her last on this earth. To her sister, brothers, and their family she showed unwavering love. Aunt Bembee, the name her extended family affectionately called her, touched each family member's life and made it better. She is already deeply missed.

Beyond her family, Brenda made an enormous, positive impact in her community. She was a bright face of Community National Bank and Trust for over 30 years. From serving popcorn on Fridays to her tireless acts of love in the community, the most remembered piece of Brenda was her smile. People who entered the bank immediately felt welcome because Brenda had a way of making everyone she met feel like they were the only person in the world for just a few seconds in time.

While this tremendous loss to the family and the community is deeply felt, Brenda is likely standing at the gates of Heaven making it yet another place where everyone feels like they belong. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was steady throughout her life. It was evident in the way she treated others with love and kindness.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Harry Lee Grounds and Florene Trompler Grounds along with Gilbert and Katy Stubbs, Polly Chase, Benny and Mary Stubbs.

Brenda is survived by her husband James of 57 years, her son JD and his partner Statia, Diana (sister) and Ken Goode, Harry Gene (brother) and Cheryl Grounds, Donnie (brother) and Mandy Jane Grounds, Terry (brother) Grounds and Tommie Batson, Gloria (cousin) and Bill Hollingsworth, Carolyn and Mike Anderson along with three generations of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of how our sweet Brenda impacted those around her will be at Northside Baptist Church, where she and James have been members for many years, on Thursday, September 11. Visitation will be at 1:00 followed by a celebration of life at 2:00. Daniel Harper will officiate.
