Brenda Combs
Dear Mom,
You are gone now but you will never be forgotten. You, Brenda McDonald Combs of Ennis, TX, went to be with your Lord and Savior Feb. 10, 2020 at 68 years of age. You were born in Corsicana on March 29, 1951 but grew up in Richland, the daughter of James and Martha (Fultz) McDonald who preceded you in death. Your sister Barbara Nelson was there for the ride and continues to share amazing stories with us as we all try and make sense of this.
You went by many names: Bren, B, Aunt B, Mom, and most recently and probably most powerfully, Grammy. Names weren't important though because to know you was to know love. Fierce, unwavering love that you showered on everyone around you. You lived your life for others and were the most selfless person we've ever met. You would HATE that we're making a fuss about you, but someone needs to. You were a brilliant mom. A doting Grammy to Lennon. A sidekick to Mern, and the most dependable rock that any friend or family member could know.
You're survived by all of us reading this, family and friends alike, and you would want us to remember a few things that you taught us along the way:
1. Love hard. The world needs more of it.
2. Sometimes the quietest people make the largest marks.
3. Nothing beats a hug.
4. Grab a plate and let's talk.
5. Your cutout cookies are better than everyone else's.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the same location. We're going to celebrate the heck out of you.
In lieu of flowers, seriously, you wouldn't have wanted them, we're offering up two options. Friends could make a donation to the cancer foundation of their choice OR better yet, the more Brenda option, take loved ones to lunch and talk about you. It's what you would have wanted.
We know somehow, you're reading this and laughing one last time, shaking your head, and saying "Josh Brandon."
To the moon and back,
Josh, Chad, Wendy, and Lennon

Brenda Combs was truly the sweetest, kindest lady I have ever met. She always gave a hug and hug smile every time I saw her. I always looked forward to her hugs on Sunday mornings walking into Sunday School. She was amazing and will be missed by many!

Dear family, We are so sorry to hear of Brenda's passing. Though we haven'nt seen her recently, we have been friends with her since we were young in the faith. She was always a dear, sweet person of faith and very giving and warm.. In the last few years, we connected on Facebook sometimes and it was such a blessing. Our prayers are with you in the days ahead as you cope with this heavy loss. May God wrap His loving arms around you all and give you His peace andcomfort.
