Billie Marie Teetz Sims of Corsicana died peacefully February 7, 2023 at Legacy Rehabilitation and Healthcare after a short illness. She was born March 19, 1929 to William George Teetz and Essie Fletcher Teetz in Kerens, Texas. She married C.B.(Joe) Sims June 12, 1948 and was married a few months short of 70 years. As a lifelong Presbyterian she was baptized, married, and served as an ordained deacon and elder in the Kerens Presbyterian Church. She was a Rebekah in the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 63 for many years. After her retirement from the Corsicana State Home, she enjoyed being a Pink Lady at Navarro Regional, quilting with the local quilt guild, and studying scripture at Community Bible Study.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Joan Teetz Owen.
She is survived by four children, Kathy Collier (Gary) of Corsicana, David Sims (Terry Cook) of Palm Springs, California, Lisa Curington of Arlington, and Eric Sims of Rosenberg. She is survived by five grandchildren, Joshua Collier of Chicago, Lindsey Betsill (John) of Arlington, Cain, Sawyer, and Stone Sims of Rosenberg, and great grandchildren Henry, Eleanor, and Oliver Betsill of Arlington. In addition, she is survived by her loving and caring neighbors of many years, the Edgar Sanchez family.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 18 at Prairie Point Cemetery in Bazette at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception and visitation at 2:30 p.m. at KESA in downtown Kerens. Knowing that graveside services can be difficult for some, the family invites all to join them at KESA.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Kerens Veterans Memorial, P.O. Box 71, Kerens, Texas 75144 or KESA (Kerens Ex-Student Assoc) P.O. Box 5 Kerens, Texas 75144.
With heartfelt gratitude, the family thanks all the staff of Legacy and Hand to Hand Hospice for the compassion and loving care shown their mother during the last month.
