Betty Ruth Ashlock Obituary

Rockwall, TX - Betty Ruth Cole Ashlock, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of family and the many lives she touched with her kindness. She was born on April 14, 1941, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Anna Ruth Shirley Cole and Henry Edward Cole, both of whom preceded her in death. She spent her childhood growing up on a farm in Anson, Texas, where she developed the warm spirit, strong faith, and caring nature that would define her life.

After graduating from high school, Betty moved to Denton, Texas, to attend Texas Woman's University, a place that would shape her future in more ways than one. It was there she met the love of her life, Donald Earl Ashlock. Betty and Don were married on June 12, 1960, beginning a beautiful relationship that lasted 65 years and was filled with deep love, devotion, fun, and kindness.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Don; her children, Anna Magie and Linus Ashlock; her children's spouses, Brian Magie and Kerri Ashlock whom she warmly welcomed; and her brother, Henry Edward Cole, Jr., and his wife, Brenda Cole.

"Grammy's" greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren—Emily Ashlock, Ashlyn Bayes, Matthew Ashlock, Kendall Bayes, Jordan Ashlock, and Isaac Ashlock—whom she adored and nurtured with patience, creativity, and love. She treasured time spent with them, sharing her many talents and traditions, from canning jams and vegetables for the State Fair of Texas with Ashlyn and Kendall to teaching painting, cooking, sewing, and crochet skills, continually passing along her love of learning and creativity with the grandkids.

As a lifelong Christian, Betty quietly lived her faith through service, compassion, and generosity toward others. She was known for always putting the needs of others first and for being a constant source of encouragement and support within her community.

Betty had a remarkable green thumb and found great joy in raising flowers and beautiful plants, filling her surroundings with color and life. She was also an animal lover with a gentle heart, always caring for the creatures around her.

Those who knew her will remember her as a sweet, kind, and caring person with a positive spirit that touched everyone she met. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family created a legacy that will live on through the many people whose lives she enriched.

Betty Ruth Cole Ashlock will be deeply missed by her husband, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a beautiful example of love, faith, creativity, and kindness, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
