Bennie  Blackstone
Bennie Roney Sammons Blackstone was the youngest of three daughters of Cal and Betty
Francis Lester of Terrell, Texas. Bennie grew up in Terrell and graduated at Terrell High
School. She then went to Ennis, Texas as manager of Western Union where she met U.C. Roney. They married and had three daughters, Sylvia, Rachael, and Kathy Roney.
In 1960, she went to work as a real estate salesperson in Corsicana. In 1968 she founded her own company Town and Country Real Estate. She was the first "Realtor of the Year" in Corsicana. She married Tom Sammons and were married until he passed away. Bennie continued her real estate business and moved her office to her home, keeping her Broker License until her death.
She married her childhood sweetheart from Terrell, James L. Blackstone, a retired Warrant officer of the United States Navy and retiree from the General Service Administration. They lived in Terrell and Corsicana until his death in 2005.
Bennie is survived by her three daughters Sylvia and husband Benny Parrish of Dallas,
Rachael and husband Art Throgmorton of Fort Worth, and Kathy Roney of Corsicana, her
step-children, Shirley Sammons Cox of Bedias, Texas, Pat and Vickie Sammons of Pennsylvania, and Clementine Holmes of Cleveland, Texas; four grandchildren Roney and Misti Pollard of Fort Worth, Kristen and Chen Tsu of Plano, Gretchen Gray of Dallas, and Tim Parrish of Dallas; step-grandchildren, Tommy Sammons of Houston, Mark Sammons of Austin, and Sherry Rutledge of Woodlands; five great grandchildren Brendan and Courtlyn Pollard, Anna and Daniel Gray, Mya Tsu, and a number of step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cal and Betty Francis Lester, sisters Myrna Liston
and Ruby White, step sons Bill and Mike Sammons, and a step great granddaughter.
Visitation with the family will be held from6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Corsicana with Dr. Danny P. Reeves officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Roney Pollard, Tim Parrish, Chen Tsu, Tommy Sammons, Mark Sammons and Chris White. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Building Fund 510 W Collin St, Corsicana, TX 75110.

GOD gained a beautiful and sweet lady whom I will never forget for the love she always showed me always with that perfect smile. She will be surely missed and to the family , my prayers will continue that GOD strengthen you all as the family celebrate the homegoing of the angel that I love so much.
