Corsicana - Amelia Earl Simmons, better known as Mickeye was born November 24, 1937 in Rural Shade Texas. Mickeye passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025. She was 87 years old. Preceded in death by her husband Odis Simmons, parents Earl and Helen Henderson, brother Buddy Henderson and sister Deborah Henderson of Kerens.
Mickeye graduated from Kerens High School and attended Navarro Jr College.
She married Odis Simmons on December 20, 1957. She then began her career as a wife and mother.
She loved being outside and caring for her yard, planting flowers and shrubs, keeping the grass alive and the weeds at bay. She could be seen daily watering her outside plants. Her dog Hershey was her constant companion, and she loved him dearly.
Mickeye is survived by her daughter Lisa Howell and husband Chris of Kerens, son Kyle Simmons and wife Kristie of Athens. Grandchildren Kandi Jones, Kortney Lane and Porter of Athens and Josh Howell of Burlington, Vermont. She is also survived by her siblings Bobby Henderson and wife Sherry of Rural Shade and Fred Henderson and wife Becky of Palestine and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mickeye was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by everyone.
She is now at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
