On Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, William "Uncle Buddy" Eaton, 90, drove his wrecker through Heaven's gate. He was born on Nov. 30, 1922 in Temple to Charles Henry and Sallie Elizabeth Burnham Eaton.
A true part of Corsicana's heritage he served the public from Buddy's Garage downtown for 65 years. It was truly through rain, hail, sleet, and snow Buddy Eaton did his work. He could put a mobile home on a cliff, or pull an 18 wheeler out of a creek bed. "Back in the day", he had the fastest wrecker in Corsicana. He was a common ordinary man with extraordinary ways. Buddy had one side, the side you met. He was a young shade tree mechanic on the J.D. Worthy farm, then a mentor to many Corsicana Hot-Rodder's.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bill formerly Billie Cagle; his parents and sisters, Katie Worthy and Nell Vickers.
He is survived by his nieces, Mary Ann McColpin and Betty Nell Gorman and devoted friend, Sandy Carroll.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at Corley Funeral Home. The family will have a private family service and burial at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Corsicana/Navarro County Humane Society.
