Wanda's Story

Text size

Wanda Lee Miller, 85, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at her residence in Corsicana. She was born July 13, 1931 in Corsicana to Scott Lee Brashear and Marie Gray Brashear.
She was raised in Mildred and graduated from Mildred High School. She went on to attend business school in Tyler. Soon after she married Darwin in 1950. She worked for Collin Street Bakery when it was actually located on Collin Street and later worked for a small manufacturing company in Denton, while Darwin finished his education at North Texas. After spending a short time in Snyder they moved back to Corsicana and began to raise their three children. Family was everything to her and nothing else really mattered much. She enjoyed that all her children and immediate family lived close and would always put on coffee, wanting us to stay a while. We often left our visits with her standing on the porch to see us off.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and looked forward to the time described at Rev. 21:4 'when all pain and sorrow will be no more." She knew that would be a time where she wouldn't have to worry anymore about all her family and friends. And now her family and friends eagerly await the fulfillment of Job 14:13 and 15 where we know that Jehovah God will call and she will answer and be reunited with us.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Wanda Brashear; and a grandson, Shae Rogers.
She is survived by her husband, Darwin Young Miller of Corsicana; daughters, Suzanne Keck and husband Stephen and Stacy Rogers and husband Mike; son, Scott Miller and wife Lisa of Corsicana; grandsons, Chad Kindle and Justin Rogers and wife Zonia of Corsicana; granddaughter, Kristin Valdez and husband Matthew of Arlington; great grandchildren, Rebecca Kindle, Preston Kindle, Harley Plant, Haley Holloway, Wesley Holloway of Corsicana and Lily Valdez of Arlington; brother, Mike Brashear and wife Beverly of Corsicana; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by her funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Shawn Moonsammy officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Kindle, Justin Rogers, Matthew Valdez, Preston Kindle, Mike Brashear and Don Brashear.
