Tad's Story

Tad Wheelock, age 67, of Mason passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 at his ranch. He was born Dec. 25, 1949 in Corsicana to John N. Wheelock, Jr. and Marian Bragg Wheelock.
Tad graduated from Corsicana High School in 1968 and went on to earn his bachelors degree from Southwest Texas University. He worked his entire life on ranches and loved any outdoor activity. He was a true "cowboy." He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He was a strong Christian and displayed his loving heart to all who knew him. His smile was unforgettable and he was a soft spoken strong man. Tad leaves behind a great legacy for his children.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.
He is survived by his mother, Marian Wheelock; his wife, Lillian; children, John N. Wheelock, IV and wife Camille, Mark Wheelock and wife, Brenda, Brooke W. Gunder and husband, Robert and step-son, Blair Carroll; his sister, Ellen W. Willis, and husband Ty.
Tad is also survived by 16 grandchildren; Galina Wheelock, Tatiana Wheelock, Macey Wheelock, Clay Wheelock, Aubrey Wheelock, Colt Wheelock, Troupe Wheelock, Will Wheelock, Ella Wheelock, Weston Wheelock, Brooke Wheelock, Truman Wheelock, Ireland Gunder, Emory Gunder, Kaelyn Gunder and Luke Carroll, along with nephews, Matt and Tyler Willis and niece, Amy Willis.
There is no formal visitation planned. The memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Lunz officiating.
