Rosa B.'s Story
Rosa B. Cummins Bower (Nanie), beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with her Lord on May 19, 2017 at age 89. She was born on November 6, 1927 in Rice, Texas to Gilbert Herman and Alma Chapman Clark Wear.
Rosa's life will be remembered by her devotion and sacrificial love to her family, along with her selfless service to others. Her kindness and sweet spirit were enduring hallmarks of her life and a reflection of the Lord's presence and love.
She attended Rice High School where she graduated with honors in 1945. She went on to graduate from Brantley-Draughon Business College, Ft. Worth, Tx in 1946. She retired from Texas Utilities Fuel Company in 1987 following a 26-year career working in Corsicana and Dallas.
She married Robert Bower of Corsicana in 2004. They enjoyed a decade of serving others at First Baptist Church, Corsicana, Meals-On-Wheels, and supper clubs. She loved playing games and was renowned among her family and friends for her cards and dominos playing skills.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Nan (Glen) Kitchens, Rodric Ernest (Connie) Cummins, and daughter-in-law Kay Cummins; 5 grandchildren, Jill (Morgan) Ephlin, Shelley (Jordan) Golden, Meghan (Jared) Mazzola, Joni (Randall) Heye, and Taylor (Cayla) Cummins; 6 great grandchildren (and her beloved dog Lucy). She is preceded in death by her parents, son James Randall Cummins, husband Robert Bower, and brother Howard Wear.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana, with burial to follow at Rice Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
