Opal Joyce Gillespie, 74, left to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 26, 2017. She was born Sept. 3, 1942 in Sherman.
Joyce devoted her life to her family and her charitable organizations. She volunteered with UNICEF in Houston for many years and also served as president. She loved her gardens and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Leon and Opal Elmore, as well as her brothers, Leroy Elmore, Larry Elmore and Jack Elmore.
She is survived by her daughter, Carole Joyce Crutchfield and husband Raymond Crutchfield of College Station; son, Bobby Gillespie, of San Antonio; grandchildren, Joshua Robert Jolly, Jonathan Matthew Jolly, Carolyn Crutchfield, Quinn Gillespie and Crystal Louise Ahrens Rivas. She is also survived by brothers Doyle Elmore and wife Sue, Raymond Elmore and wife Oleta, Harvey Elmore, Lonnie Elmore and wife Rikki; sisters Linda Bennett, Nancy Dunsmore, Peggy Allen and husband Robert, Andra Jones and husband Ronnie, Rebecca Hall and husband Danny. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that she adored.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Williamson Gillespie, IV, Jonathan Matthew Jolly, Quinn Gillespie, Raymond Crutchfield, Stephen Elmore, Roland Bennett, Ron Bennett, and Blake Elmore. Honorary Pallbearer will be Joshua Robert Jolly
