Mary Lynn's Story
"Consider the lilies, how they grow. They neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." - Luke 12:27, ESV
Mary Lynn Wisdom had a heart full of wildflowers. Born on Sept. 21, 1937 to her parents, Tommie Oscar Keepers, Jr. and Florence Emma Babbitt Keepers. Mary Lynn enjoyed a happy childhood with her two surviving siblings, Tommie Oscar Keepers, III and Emma Belle Keepers Page.
Throughout her life, Mary Lynn was distinguished by her intelligence and integrity. She graduated from Cypress-Fairbanks High School as valedictorian and went on to attend Southwestern University, where she participated in multiple campus organizations and earned a Bachelor's of Science degree for Education in 1960. Along the way, she fell in love with a handsome, lanky science major named Lawrence Wisdom. Lawrence and Mary Lynn tied the knot on Sept. 6, 1958 and enjoyed an impressive 56 years of marriage until Lawrence passed away of heart failure in July 2015.
Mary Lynn and Lawrence were long-time Dallas Symphony Orchestra ticket holders, youth group and Central Texas Conference Youth in Mission leaders, and members of the Native Plant Society of Texas and St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Corsicana. Mary Lynn also invested great time and energy into organizing church theater productions and vacation bible schools, but nothing made her happier than enjoying nature and spending time with her grandchildren.
On Dec. 26, 2016, Mary Lynn, passed away at home at age 79. In the wake of this loss, Mary Lynn's family has taken comfort in the knowledge that, while individuals who develop dementia can make difficult patients, Mary Lynn exhibited endless kindness, patience, and grace. In fact, her hospice nurses named her the most peaceful patient they had ever seen, evidence of the joy she had cultivated through many years of walking faithfully with Jesus. Truly, to be absent in body is to be present with the Lord.
Mary Lynn and Lawrence are survived by their four children, Mark Wisdom, Beth Bennett, Eric Wisdom, and Paul Wisdom. Family members and friends are invited to a memorial celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Wisdom Farm in Blooming Grove.
