Mrs. Janis May Woods, 72, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. She was born Jan. 8, 1945 in Galveston, Texas to Edgar Vernon May and Lucille Vaught May.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was also a devoted homemaker, and was the backbone of the family. She was a very caring person, and enjoyed helping anyone she could in any way possible. She attended and graduated from Corsicana High School where she played in the band. She met the love of her life at the skating rink and they enjoyed many years together. She loved being outdoors helping take care of the yard and feeding her animals that included her squirrel friends. She was strong in her faith and had a great love for her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Darla Woods; parents; brother, AV "Sonny" May; and her beloved dog, Puddles.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Gerald D. Woods; son, Allen Woods; and a sister, Doris Jean Robinson of Corsicana.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will Hubert Dunbar, Greg Tetlow, Jose Castillo, Jeremy Mansfield, Oliver Sheehan, and Juan Quiroz.
