Jane George's Story

Jane was born May 18, 1926 in Blooming Grove to Cary Derward George and Mattie Sue Harris George and passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017. She was a 1942 graduate of Corsicana High School, and went on to obtain a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Texas Woman's University and a Master's Degree in History from Baylor University.
Jane taught for 23 years in the Corsicana schools and at Navarro College. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Navarro County Genealogical Society. Over the years she was past Regent of James Blair Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.
Travel was a lifelong passion of hers. Just about anywhere you could want to go, she had been. Be it trips with friends, grandchildren, or the Traveling Aggies, she always looked forward to her next adventure.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cullen W. Dunn; her second husband, John F. Taylor; her parents; her son, Frank Wood Dunn and wife, Susie; and two sisters, Martha George Beard and Bobby Jo Dyar.
She is survived by her son, Robert C. Dunn and wife, Carol; step-daughter, Amie Taylor Laskowski and husband, Mark; step-son, John F. Taylor, Jr., and wife, Belinda; 10 grandchildren: Carrie Dunn Kindle; Elizabeth Dunn Talley and husband, Eric; Lawson Dunn and wife, Shannon; Peyton Dunn and wife, Carrie; Lowell Olsen Dunn; Melissa Dunn Smith and husband, Rusty; Margaret Edling Krulikas; Andrew Edling; John Edling; and Jackson Taylor; 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as many other family and friends.
A time of visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 29 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church with a Funeral Service to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Blewitt officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The Family request that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Mabel Mabry Scholarship Fund, in care of Navarro College Scholarship Department, 3200 W. Seventh Avenue, Corsicana, Texas. Jane managed this scholarship for over 30 years for the benefit of aspiring teachers.
