George Gilbert Frocke, Jr. ,73, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017. He was born Jan. 17, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to George Gilbert Frocke, Sr. and Hildred LaHue Link Frocke.
He was drafted while working for the Library of Congress and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston at Brooke Army Medical Center.
In San Antonio, he met Martha Louise Bennett and they married in 1968. In 1971 the army granted his honorable discharge. He worked in the engineering division of the City of Dallas Water Department for 34 years, during which he became Subdivision Contracts Administrator in Engineering. He helped rewrite Chapter 49 of the Dallas City Code and received numerous Outstanding Employee awards during his career.
In 1999 he was inducted into the International "Who's Who" of Professional Management. After retiring in 2002, he was hired back as a consultant until 2009, and in 2006 his name was placed on the City of Dallas Wall of Honor. He was on the board of the Selective Service System from 2002 to 2012.
George grew up a Lutheran and later was baptized in the Baptist church. He enjoyed singing in the choir at Lakewood and Northlake churches in Dallas, and was a member of Northside in Corsicana. His interests included geo-caching, woodworking, metal detecting and genealogy. He loved driving sports cars, traveling back to see his family in Charles Town, West Virginia, and exploring sites of interest there and in surrounding states.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha Bennett Frocke; their daughter, Celeste Frocke; sisters, Gail Spoto and Patricia Roll; brothers-in-law Fred Roll and Gary Bennett; sister-in-law Sondra Bennett; nieces Doris Roll Bauer and husband Jeff, Susan Spoto, Deborah Spoto Gaito and husband Todd; nephews Michael Roll and wife Paula, Matthew Bennett and Jake Bennett; great-nieces Andrea Roll Waite and husband Cody, Caitlin Roll, Hunter Roll; and great-nephew Robert.
There will be no visitation or funeral at this time. He wished for his ashes to be taken to West Virginia. A memorial service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at the Frocke home. Memorial contributions may be made to Northside Baptist Church.
