DeLois Jean Lane was born Jan. 28, 1933. She passed away from this life on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016. She was the fifth daughter of Louis and Ola Tanner. She lived and worked in Navarro County. She was born in Pursley Community and attended school in Dawson, Pursley and Union High.
She worked for the Sun Glove Factory and Haggar Slacks till she had to quit because of poor health in the early 70's. She attended Shady Grove Baptist Church.
DeLois was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Lane; her parents; her oldest son Thurman Thornton, Jr.; step-daughter Karen Flanery; granddaughter Tabitha; three brothers, J.W., Rex and Billy Benton and sisters Evie Nunn, Bessie Burleson, Jaunita Dyer and Miriam Praytor.
She is survived by her son Doyce Thornton and wife Barbara; brother Lewis Tanner and wife Pam; sisters, Reba Gullett and Faye Dick; grandchildren, Thurman Thornton III, and wife Celia, Paul Thornton and wife Crystal, Catherine, (DeDe) Smith and husband James; Christy Jones; numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, Along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Graveside services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 at New Pursley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Lamb, Jeff Lamb, Jeff Clifton, Jody Pitts and Dean Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Vincent Thornton and Ben Thornton.
