Danny Joe Gillespie, 60, of Frost passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born on May 28, 1956 in Lamesa to Joe Edd and Hallie Jean White Gillespie.
He worked in print production for numerous large advertising agencies in the Dallas area. He worked as the city secretary for the city of Frost for seven years. He was instrumental in helping organize the Frost Heritage Center Museum. He published a large book of the history of Frost, which helped raise funds to help get the museum opened.
He was a perfectionist at everything he did, and was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church where he served as the Lay and Song leader and on the PPR.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Edd Gillespie; brother, Perry Don Gillespie and his grandparents.
He is survived by his mother, Hallie Jean Gillespie of Ackerly; brothers, Tony Gillespie and wife Angela of Big Spring and Kenney Gillespie and wife Patricia of Colorado City, TX; son, Bo Garner Gillespie and wife Michelle of Kyle; grandsons, Rocco and Max Gillespie of Kyle; special loved ones, David and Syble Malone of Frost and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 at the Dresden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Chambers officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2016 at Resthaven Cemetery in Ackerly with the Rev. Ray McMorris officiating.
Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his close college friends.
