Cody's Story

Cody Nelson, 52, of Purdon passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 in Corsicana. He was born on Oct. 24, 1964 in Dallas to Ronald C. Nelson and Wanda Jean (Pettit) Nelson.
Cody was a long-time employee of Law Enforcement Systems of Corsicana and was Vice President of the company. He was married for 20 years to his beloved wife, Kari Rene (Browning) Nelson.
Cody was known to be a loving and kind husband, son, brother and uncle and generous to all he knew. He came to Christ, having been baptized at the Northside Baptist Church of Duncanville. He was an avid hunter, camper, outdoorsman, off-road rider, animal lover and gifted photographer. Cody was known for his "big smile," "constant laughter" and creating unforgettable memories with his many many friends.
Cody was preceded in death by his mother.
Cody is survived by his wife, Kari and their "furbaby' Bailey of Purdon; his father R.C. Nelson and wife Anne of Garland; brothers Jeffrey Glen Nelson and wife, Dena of Gun Barrel City and Christopher Brett Nelson and wife Jessica of Little Elm. Cody is also survived by his nieces Jaymie, Maddie and Gabe Nelson and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017 at Corley Funeral home in Corsicana. Funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. at Corley Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Steven Bell will officiate. Interment will follow at Younger Cemetery in Silver City. Russell Turner, Charles Nelson, James Shackelford, Bryan Smith, Doug Anderson, Calvin Bentley, Tim Miller and Terry Watkins will serve as pallbearers. Cody's nephews and great nephews, Kory Browning, Kolton Browning, Ben Castillo, Ethan Harris and Nicholas Harris will serve as honorary pallbearers.
