Burtis's Story

Dr. Burtis B. Robinson, 77, of Pelham passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas. He was born on Nov. 21, 1939 in Jewett. He graduated from G.W. Jackson High School in Corsicana (Navarro County.) He went on to receive his undergraduate college degree in Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biological/Physical Sciences at Huston-Tillotson (College) University (1961,) a Master Degree in Veterinary Microbiology from Tuskegee (Institute) University, and a Doctoral program in Biophysical Science Teaching from (North Texas State) University of North Texas.
Burtis was a member of many organizations over his lifetime, however the ones he most mentioned were his churches; Taylor Chapel Baptist (childhood, Frost,) St. Andrews Episcopal (Tuskegee Institute, Alabama), Epiphany Episcopal (Dallas) and St. Luke Presbyterian (USA) Dallas; his fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma, Inc. (1958,) Free and Accepted Masons of Texas, and The Huston-Tillotson (College) University International Alumni Association, and the Navarro County Retired Teachers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Robinson; brother, Freeman Robinson, Jr.; sister, Dorothy L. Robinson Spears Brooks; sister, Louise Robinson Devaughn; brother, Curtis Robinson; and son-in-law, Andre' Lourice Baker, Sr.
Burtis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elayne Porter Robinson; daughter, Charlayne "Tina" Baker; son, Burtis "Brad" Robinson (Felicia); sisters, Georgia Nell Robinson Thomas; Lizzie Ann Robinson Porter (Waco, Jr.); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bernard and Jean Porter; grandchildren, Andre' Lourice Baker Jr., Constance Elayne Robinson, Jonathan Bradwyck Robinson, Jordan Scott Robinson, and Joshua Freeman Robinson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church with Rev. Clay Allard officiating.
Interment will follow at P3 Porter Ranch Family Cemetery in Pelham. Pallbearers will include nephews.
