Bobby's Story

Bobby Don Hamilton Sr., 73, of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Cornerstone Hospital in Shawnee Oklahoma. He was born Sept. 27, 1943 to Jess and Ruth (Hargrove) Hamilton in Blooming Grove. He was the second of four children, two brothers and one sister. He graduated from Rankin High School in 1962. He also attended Hardin-Simmons University and Luther Rice College and Seminary. Bobby received his certificate of license to preach from Eastern Heights Baptist Church of Cleburne in 1968 and was ordained to preach by College Heights Baptist Church of Cleburne in 1972. He received his degree of doctor of ministry from Lake Charles Bible College of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
He married Jimi A. Jones Dec. 10, 1966 in Cleburne. Bobby was a Southern Baptist Minister who pastored in several states including Texas, Washington, Indiana, Kentucky, New Mexico, and North Dakota. In his free time, he loved to listen to music, read, and watch football, especially "his Dallas Cowboys." He even preached on the roof of his church in Evansville, Indiana and did the "chicken dance" in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Ruth Hamilton, an older brother Joe Dean Hamilton, and a baby sister, Ruth Elaine Hamilton.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Jimi; six children, Elaine Hamilton, Barb (Lester) Dickinson, Bobby Jr. (Terri) Hamilton, Ami (Russell) Schmittler, Mekhial Hamilton, Sebastian (Elizabeth) Hamilton; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jackie (Marsha) Hamilton as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove with pastor Eddy Freeman officiating.

Bobby's favorite verse from the Bible was Psalms 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
