Barbara's Story

Barbara Jean (Blount) Anderson, 87, a longtime resident of Hubbard, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 in a Waco nursing center.
Barbara was born Dec. 2, 1929 in Hubbard to Gadye Blount and Callie (Crain) Blount. She was a lifelong resident of Hubbard, a graduate of Hubbard High School and later attended Baylor University. Barbara and her late husband, James, owned and operated Anderson Insurance Agency in Hubbard for many years after James retired from General Tire in Waco. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Hubbard as well as a faithful member of Quilters for Christ at the church. Barbara and James were active supporters of the Hubbard Jaguars especially when their three children were playing sports and later followed their grandchildren's sporting endeavors as well.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Anderson.
She is survived by her three children, Mike Anderson and wife, Carolyn of Elm Mott, Greg Anderson and wife, Debbie of Canyon Lake and Jeanette Smithey and husband, Jerry of Hubbard; five grandchildren, Tiffany and Steve Wilkins of Cibolo, Heather and Robert Fulmer of Waco, Amy and Adam Lopez of Spring Branch, Bryan and Becky Anderson of Shepherd, Montana and Kristin and Brady Kaufmann of Hewitt; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan and Drew Fulmer, Jake and Emma Wilkins, Barrett and Corbin Lopez and Katelyn, Lauren and Hudson Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Hubbard with Rev. Bob Rainey and Rev. Ricky Woodall officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Barbara's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the nurses and staff at St. Catherine's of Waco, Providence Hospice and Rev. Bill and Marlene Reed of St. Catherine's, for their loving care of our Mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church or Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard.
