-- William Archie "Sonny Boy" McCarter, age 94, passed away Dec. 17, 2016 due to complications of fibrosis and pneumonia.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21,2016 at Hopewell Cemetery in Navarro, Texas. Officiated by James Ater.
Memorials: in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army of Corsicana, the Alzheimer's Association in memory of his wife Jean or the charity of your choice.
Archie was the oldest son of Charlie Holden McCarter and Lenora Vernon Moore McCarter and was born in Navarro on Nov. 23, 1922. Archie grew up in the Navarro Community and graduated from the former Navarro High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign in World War II. He was employed by the former Joslyn Manufacturing & Supply Co. for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; brother, Charles and his parents.
Archie is survived by his children, William "Bill" Archie McCarter Jr. and wife Paula of Austin, daughter, Lilla "Gayle" McCarter Lamers and husband Patrick of Fort Worth and son Charles "Charlie" Frederick McCarter and wife Christina of Rockwall; grandchildren, Rebecca McCarter Hunter of Seguin, Kacie Hunnicutt Russell of Fort Worth, Joshua McCarter of Atascadero, California, Rachel McCarter O'Leary of Buda and Joseph Hunnicutt of Crowley. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
