Weyman's Story

Weyman Errol "Mac" McBride, 93, of Corsicana went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2916 at Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana. He was born on June 30, 1923 in College Hill to Otto Young and Nora Jewel Alexander McBride and lived in several Texas towns during his early years.
He attended school in Fairfield but chose to get a job in a CCC camp to help his family survive the depression. He then worked in the shipyard in Houston until WWII, when he enlisted in the Navy. He served during the war in the shipyard in San Diego, repairing the ships to return to the conflict in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he worked in the Middle East for two years helping develop the oil fields. When he returned from the Middle East, his family had moved to Corsicana, so he joined them there.
He went to work at Adams Hat Factory in Corsicana and worked there for 47 years. While at the hat factory, he met Lorene Bonner, and they were married in 1950. They enjoyed 66 years together. He was very talented with his hands, not only shaping hats, but also making deer feeders. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed deer and turkey season with all his hunting buddies. He was well liked by those who knew him and he was a true friend and wonderful husband.
He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Corsicana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glendon Young McBride and Otto Lawrence McBride; and a sister, Mavis L. Trubell.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene McBride; sister-in-law, Marie McBride, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Becker officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
