W. M.'s Story
Funeral services for W. M. Montgomery, age 90, of Eureka are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at Eureka United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Manney officiating. Burial will follow at the Eureka Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Roughton Funeral Home.
Mr. Montgomery passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017. He was born Jan. 13, 1927, to W. C. (Buck) Montgomery and Estelle Montgomery. He attended Mildred High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Japan. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Shriners. He was a lifelong resident of Eureka.
He loved socializing with his friends and dancing with his wife. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved living in Eureka and was caring and generous with his friends and neighbors.
W.M. loved to raise cattle and was a rancher all of his life. He retired from Texas Utilities after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church.
W.M. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Loudine Montgomery. He is survived by two daughters, Ann Connor and husband Gary of Palestine and Donna Settle and husband Happy of Austin, three grandchildren, Whitney Napoli and husband Jason of Austin, Amy Myhand and husband Shayne of Driftwood, and Matt Connor and wife Emily of Eureka, six great-grandchildren, Travis Myhand, Cole Myhand, Grant Myhand, Troy Connor, Jett Connor and Nathan Napoli.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Matt Connor, Shayne Myhand, Jason Napoli, Travis Myhand, Jerry Don Ware and Steve Andrus.
