Vera Alice Oglesby, 86, of Corsicana passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2016. She was born Oct. 7, 1930 in Kerens to Claud Millard Perry and Ioma Clara Andrews.
Vera was a true southern belle in every sense of the word. She possessed an irresistible charm and charisma and had the gift of making everyone she came in contact with feel special. Her devotion to her husband and son was unshakable. She inherited an entrepreneurial spirit, which flourished as she sewed for entire wedding parties. She was a drapery seamstress and designer, and later was an alterationist. She was a psychologist without a degree, as she would so patiently and lovingly sit and listen to anyone's problems and concerns. She was a member of Community Chapel Church and enjoyed gospel music and making people laugh by joking. She also enjoyed decorating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Oglesby; son, Darren Oglesby in 2016; parents, Claud and Ioma Perry; siblings, Mildred Keele, Vivian Jock, Zelda Steen, Clifton Perry and Lester Perry.
She is survived by her sister, Clara Braxmier and husband Walter; brother, James Perry and wife Glenda and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
