Vada's Story

Vada Mae Keller Baldwin passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 in Corsicana at Twilight Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 15, 1934 in Van Zandt County, to Clyde Keller and Virgie Pilgrim Keller.
She was reared in Roane and attended Roane elementary school and later Corsicana High School. She attended Roane Baptist church during her childhood and often sang duets or trios with her sisters in church for special music. 
Vada and Billy Baldwin were married on Feb. 2, 1952 and celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2017. They lived in Retreat during their early years of marriage and at that time were members of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She worked for several years at Tex-Sun Glove Company, and then worked in the cafeteria at Corsicana High School until she retired. She was currently a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana since the early 1970's.  
Vada was a talented and physically active lady for most of her life. She loved to attend dances when her husband, Billy played in dance bands all around the Corsicana and North Texas area. She could dance very well and loved to two-step and waltz. She loved to sing in her church choir and at the numerous get-togethers in her home and friends' homes over the years when musicians, friends and their families would play music, sing and fellowship together. She also loved boating, swimming, water-skiing, camping, traveling, going to Six Flags and accompanying her church's youth group on trips and outings. In recent years she had numerous health problems, but stayed very active in spite of that
Vada was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters Jake (J.B.) Keller, Virgil (V.G.) Keller, Billy Jack Keller, Cecil Keller, Clyde Keller Jr., Royce Keller, Dorothy Keller Mitchell, and Rochelle Keller Hooper. 
She is survived by husband Billy Baldwin;daughter LouAnn Baldwin; twin sister Ada Keller Coker; sister Barbara Keller McDonald, and numerous nieces and nephews.  
Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Corley Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. at Younger Cemetery in Purdon, with Bro. Johnathan Simons officiating.
