Thelma Mae Crawford, 91 of Corsicana passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2017.
She was born May 7, 1926 in Dallas, she was one of eight children to William and Flora Davis. Known as "Susie" she was a consummate mother and homemaker. Susie was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals for her friends and family. Her pineapple pies are legendary but her greatest accomplishments are her family. She loved big family gatherings and took every opportunity to join any celebration she could. She loved her pets; most recently these included her four cats.
After moving to Twilight Home, she missed her home, but made many many friends there. Several of them commented that she never met a stranger.
Susie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Rawson D. Crawford. He was the love of her life.
Susie is survived by her children, Johnny Allen Crawford; Dianna Lynn Martinez and her husband David and Sharon Ann Mertz and husband Fred. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Allen Crawford, Lesley Crawford, Michelle Andrews, Michael Mertz, J.D. Martinez, Wally Martinez and Juste Martinez. Susie was so proud of her six great grandchildren, Samantha Crawford, Carter Andrews, Camdyn Andrews, Mia Martinez, Kameron Martinez and the youngest, Sofia Martinez. In addition, Susie had many nieces and nephews she cared for. The family wishes to thank all those responsible for her care over the last three weeks, especially the second floor nurses at Navarro Regional Hospital, Dr. Kent Rogers and the nurses and techs at The Twilight Home. Your compassion is much appreciated.
The graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Twilight Home, 3001 West Fourth Ave. Corsicana, Texas 75110.
