Shirley Walker Cason, 80, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, in Hillsboro. She was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Navarro County to Edgar Gerome and Mable Vera Rash Gilliam and was a 1954 graduate of Corsicana High School.
She was employed by Bank of America in the downtown Fort Worth branch where she began as a teller and rose to be a loan officer before her retirement in 2000.
Shirley was married to Durwood Chrisman Walker for 36 years prior to his death in 2000. She married Joe Cason in 2004 and he died in 2011.
Shirley was an active member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church and a member of the PraiSingers Adult Choir.
She was preceded in death by parents; husbands, Durwood Walker and Joe Cason; brother, Larry Joe Gilliam and sister-in-law, Helen Elizabeth Gilliam.
Shirley is survived by her family, Lynn, Linda and Russ Walker of Oregon; Jeff, Robbie and Katie Walker of Oregon; Carl, Jody, Jonah and Evan Helmle of New York; Dandy and Debbie Whitener of New Mexico; Bo, Joanna, Jonas and Bella Whitener of California; Eryn, Chloe and Andie Whitener of Texas; Vickie Gilliam of Tennessee; Ricky Gilliam of Texas; Danny, Patty and Abigail Gilliam of Texas; Dustin, Rachel and Aria Daigle of Texas; Kenny and Debbi Hendrix of Texas; Jim Bob and Lisa Plemons of Texas and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.
Funeral services are set to begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at Travis Avenue Baptist Church. Interment to follow at 2 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana.
Should friends desire, memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the PraiSingers at Travis Avenue Baptist Church or charity of choice.
