Ray Owen, 82, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at his home in Hawkins. He was born on March 11, 1935 in Emhouse to James Weldon and Donnie Odessa Ray Owen.
Ray graduated Emhouse High School in Mary 1953 and then enlisted in the Unites States Air Force in December 1953. He started Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio on Jan. 2, 1954 and retired after serving 20 years on Nov. 1, 1974. Ray loved his family, his dogs, traveling, flying, fishing and his country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Donnie Owen; wife, Billie Ann Gray Owen; second wife, Bethany Bishop Owen and his son, Edward Dwayne Owen.
Ray is survived by his estranged wife, Bobbie J. Turner Owen of Big Sandy; daughters, Janet Allred and husband Mike of Anna, Daun Lambert and husband Jerry of La Porte, Deborah Armstrong and husband William of Emhouse, and Jackie Owen of Blooming Grove. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Owen of Hawkins and Mitchell Owen of Thompsonville, Illinois; grandchildren, Tiffany Gillen and husband Heath of Corsicana, Chris Owen and wife Stacy of Huntsville, Alecia Ripke and husband Theron of La Porte, James Hall and wife Angie of Corsicana, Jimmy Lambert of Bay Town, Desirae Hall and husband Koa Saechao of Hawkins, Lance Allred of Sherman, and 17 great-grandchildren, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 at Pattison Cemetery in Emhouse with Rev. Eric Larsen officiating. Pallbearers will be Lance Allred, Chris Owen, James Hall, Jimmy Lambert, Wade Hall, and Tristian Lambert.
