Mary Jo Gibbs Hart, 75, joined our Lord and Savior Jan. 25, 2018. Mary Jo was born Aug. 11, 1942 in Corsicana. She passed away peacefully at her home in Pursley surrounded by family.
Mary Jo was a member of the Pursley Baptist Church where she served as treasurer and taught various Sunday school classes over the years. Many may remember her from her years as a cashier at Buddies Winn Dixie and the Shell Stations on Beaton and seventh where she was known for her kind heart, warm smile, and infectious laughs. She never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lucile Gibbs, precious granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Hart, two special Aunts, Ruby Jo Barron and Willie Gibbs, and cousin Jeannie Whiteley.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Maston "Matt" Riley Hart; son and daughter-in-law, Bubba and Janet Hart; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Dale Owen; grandson, Jamey Pritchett; granddaughters and grandson-in-laws, Amy and Steven Virgil, Tiffany and Tony Robinson, Chrissie and Wade Bazar; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Virgil, Antony, Tylen and Kylie Jo Robinson, Ayden and Addy Bazar; sister, Claudine Gibbs; special friend, Sue Anderson; and beloved cousins, Sarah and Johnny Barron, Barbara Read, Linda Sellers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sat. Jan. 27, 2018 at Corley Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018 in Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Chad Brake of Pursley Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Eadins, Lewis Tull, Terry Brooks, David Murray, Shannon Rouse and Gary Broughton.
