Marilou's Story

Marilou Lindquist, formerly of Corsicana, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at her home in Richmond, Virgina. She was born in Corsicana on July 19, 1926, the only daughter of Thomas J. and Nora Kirkpatrick Seay Sr. She was a member of The Church on the Avenue (TCOTA), in Richmond, Virgina and was an active participant in A Grace Place Senior Activity Center.
Shortly after graduation, she married James C. Mizell, an Air Force Flight Officer. They lived in Valdosta, Georgia briefly before settling in Albany, Georgia. She was very active in the children's and missons activities of First Baptist Church in Albany. She continued work in children's and missions ministries in Asheville, North Carolina upon returning to Texas in 1963.
She worked with young people at East Texas Baptist University in Matshall and at Blinn Junior College in Brenham. She was a substitute teacher in the Dallas school system for fifteen years.
After working with children and young people for many years, she returned to Corsicana where she met and married John Lindquist, who passed away Feb. 2, 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Thomas J. Seay Jr, William Leon Seay, and James Anthony Seay.
She is survived by two children, Suzannette Mizell Mays and husband Jeff Mays, of Richmond, Virgina and James Mizell and wife Sharon, of Cobb, Georgia. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Christopher Mizell and wife Sonya, Eric Mays, Katrina Sokolowski and husband TJ, and Rachel Kurtz and husband Kris; seven great-grandchildren, Clay Mizell, Brooklyn Mizell, Colton Mizell, Taylor Sokolowski, Kaitlyn Sokolowski, Vance Kurtz, and Olivia Kurtz.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 2 p.m. with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
